Associate Attorney
Two (2) attorney law firm in Greenville, SC, is looking to add an associate attorney. Primary practice areas are general litigation with focus on personal injury and criminal defense. Candidate must be pleasant and happy to work in a team environment. Candidate is expected to treat current and potential clients, staff, and witnesses with courtesy and respect.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Attorney will be expected to handle primary responsibility for pre-litigation cases. On these cases, attorney will be expected to work independently with open consultation but minimal oversight. Attorney will be expected to prosecute pre-litigation cases promptly and efficiently using the firm’s established processes and meeting the firm’s established standards.
Attorney will also be expected to assist other attorneys on cases in litigation, primarily with research, drafting and discovery responsibilities; and to capably handle in-court opportunities in criminal defense and civil litigation, including first- and second-chair trial opportunities.
Attorney will also be given opportunities and resources to help he or she grow their practice and develop revenue streams that are unique to the firm.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initial consultations with prospective litigation and criminal defense clients
- Meet with clients as needed
- Assist staff with intake responsibilities and monitoring treatment
- Draft and review settlement offers and all pre-litigation communications
- Negotiate pre-litigation cases to settlement
- Review balances for medical bills and liens prior to disbursement
- Manage caseload proactively using case management system and established firm procedures
- Assist with pre-trial matters for cases in litigation, including research, discovery, depositions, and motions
- Appear in court for other attorneys as requested
- Assist in any other matters as needed or requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed to practice in South Carolina
- Strong research and writing skills
- Positive people skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Desire to help people and effect positive change
- Preference will be given to candidates with at least two (2) years of experience in personal injury litigation or trial practice, or five (5) years of experience in workers’ compensation
COMPENSATION:
- Salary commensurate with experience

Candidate is expected to treat current and potential clients, staff, and witnesses with courtesy and respect.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Pre-litigation paralegal will be expected to handle primary administrative responsibility for assigned pre-litigation cases from intake until pre-litigation resolution or escalation to litigation. Paralegal will be expected to work independently but within open consultation with attorneys responsible for cases. Paralegal will be expected to communicate with clients and insurance carriers promptly and with courtesy, and to gather medical records and other information in pre-litigation cases promptly and efficiently using the firm’s established processes and meeting the firm’s established standards. Paralegal will be expected to prepare medical chronologies, assist in drafting offers of settlement, and identify medical bill balances and health care liens.
