Sam is an effective and seasoned trial attorney.  He has tried over forty cases before a jury in circuit court, and his trial work has consisted of everything from simple half-day cases to week-long, factually difficult, and legally complex actions.

During his time in the Solicitor’s Office, Sam spear-headed domestic violence prosecutions in Pickens County and served as Pickens’ “Violent Crimes Prosecutor.”  In that role, he tried numerous criminal sexual conduct, drug trafficking, armed robbery, burglary, domestic violence, and assault and battery cases.  He managed a docket of cases that included everything from misdemeanor domestic violence charges to warrants for manslaughter and murder.

Sam came to Greenville in 2002 to attend Furman University where he majored in history and was inducted in to the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society.  In addition to his studies, he produced content for Furman’s closed-circuit television network and served on the university’s student activities board.
He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was an editorial board member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Journal and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society.

Sam is married to April, a fellow Furman graduate and associate head coach of Furman’s women’s soccer team, and they like to spend their free time running, hiking, and playing with their three young children.
